Leicester City's Romanian talent Alex Pascanu admits he could have joined Nottingham Forest

The 16-year-old is a big hope for the future.

Leicester City are currently on the path to pull off one of the biggest Premier League upsets of all time as they sit top of the Premier League table the first week of February.

The club as a whole is in a strong position and one of their most talented young individuals is a little-known Romanian called Alex Pascanu.

The 16-year-old moved to the UK at the age of four and has been on the books at Leicester from the age of eight. He has played for Romania under-16s and looks a good prospect for the future.

He has been speaking to Sport in Romania about his time in England this week and admitted he could have ended up at East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest.

He told Sport.ro:

"I have lived in England since 2003. This is where I started and I finished school. At age eight I chose to go to the academy Leicester City. To the detriment of the Nottingham Forest last year I received the Scholarship for two years."

Forest themselves have a good record of bringing through young talent with Ben Osborn and Oliver Burke both impressing currently in Dougie Freedman's first-team picture.

But Pascanu seems to be happy with his choice and is at Leicester in 2017 - where he will hope to prove himself as a potential first-team fixture in the years to come.

Forest will hope he doesn't emerge as a missed opportunity.
