Photos: Watford's five new January signings

Taking a look at the players signed by Watford over the last month.

The January transfer window was a quiet affair for many Premier League sides, but the same cannot be said for Watford, who completed arguably the best business of any top flight club.

The Hornets have impressed since returning to the top flight this season with Odion Ighalo, Troy Deeney and Etienne Capoue among their best performers.

But manager Quique Sanchez Flores is clearly not taking things for granted and by the close of business on Monday Watford had five new players on their books.

One of them, Abdoulaye Doucoure, became Watford’s club-record signing for £8million, but the midfielder was sent straight out on loan Granada, as was another new addition, Adalberto Penaranda.

Watford’s other new additions are goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, winger Nordin Amrabat and midfielder Mario Suarez.

The latter is arguably the pick of the bunch having arrived from Italian club Fiorentina, and the prospect of reuniting with his former manager Flores clearly played a big part in Suarez’s decision.
