Newcastle could go up to £25million for Saido Berahino

HITC Sport understands that they have received encouragement from West Brom and will go again

Newcastle United are not giving up on Saido Berahino and are continuing talks with West Bromwich Albion.

They put £21million on the table on Saturday which has been rejected but at the same time HITC Sport understands that they were given encouragement by West Brom to come back with a better offer.

Now HITC Sport understands that Newcastle could very well go up to £25million for the player before Monday's deadline and sources close to the club have stated they are confident a deal will be done.

Newcastle are set to tie up a loan deal for Roma's Seydou Doumbia, but that has not impacted on their interest in Berahino and they are set to go back.

West Brom chief Jeremy Peace had previously intimated that he would want over £30million but given Newcastle's payment would be all the money up front, as they do with every deal, HITC Sport understands he would consider dropping his asking price.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis is hopeful that should Berahino be sold before Monday's evening deadline, then he would be given some part of that to re-invest in his squad.
