Aston Villa and Birmingham City are both reportedly chasing Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli.

According to Tuttosport, Birmingham City are prepared to enter the race for Daniele Padelli of Torino.

The Birmingham Mail believe that Aston Villa could be lining up a bid for Padelli, but their near neighbours could be set to race ahead of them in the queue for the goalkeeper’s signature.

Celtic's daunting Champions League qualification challenge

Birmingham are looking to invest in the January transfer window, following the sale of Demarai Gray to Leicester City.

The Blues completed the signing of Diego Fabbrini earlier today, and Padelli could be set to follow him in the door.

The 30-year-old stopper has played 19 times for Torini this season, and his performances have reportedly caught the eye of Blues’ scouts.

Any move could be scuppered though, with Villa and Bournemouth also said to be keen on the Italian.

Padelli is no stranger to English football, having grown up in Liverpool’s academy, and he would rival Tomasz Kuszczak for the number one shirt if he was to move to St. Andrews.
