Report: Ascoli end interest in Leeds United striker Mirco Antenucci, but step up pursuit of Tomasso Bianchi

Ascoli's sporting director is good friends with Massimo Cellino.

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Italian club Ascoli are now stepping up their interest in one Leeds United player, but are stepping back in their pursuit for another.

Corriere Adricatico is reporting that Ascoli are set to finalise a bid for Leeds United midfielder Tommaso Bianchi in the coming week as they look to bring the midfielder back to Italy from Leeds.

However their previous interest in striker Mirco Antenucci is said to be over. They do not feel they can afford the player and have therefore decided to pursue other striking options.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is said to be a close friend of Ascoli sporting director Francis Marroccu and the pair are believed to have held conversations about the pair.

Now it is just Bianchi they chase.

Bianchi has struggled for first-team football at Leeds with injury problems also playing a part. The Italian has not featured for the club since February last year after heading to the club from Sassuolo.

Antenucci is a popular figure at Elland Road but has struggled for regular football recently and is out of contract at Elland Road this summer.
