Report: Rangers' young midfielder Tom Walsh joins Dumbarton on loan until the end of the season

The 19-year-old has struggled for opportunities this season.

Rangers youngster Tom Walsh has completed a deal to join Scottish Championship rivals Dumbarton until the end of the season, The Scottish Sun reports.

The midfielder has been with the Gers for the last nine years, having come through the youth ranks, and while he made eight league appearances for the club last season, he has found opportunities much more difficult to come by under Mark Warburton.

The 19-year-old has featured just twice in all competitions since the former Brentford boss arrived at Ibrox in the summer, and is now set to go out on loan for the second time in his career, having spent some of last season with Scottish League One side Stenhousemuir, where he scored twice in nine league games for the club.

And having enjoyed his run in the Light Blues side upon his return last season, he will be hoping that his spell with Dumbarton will have a similar impact, and show the manager at his parent club that he deserves a regular chance in the team.
