West Ham travel to the South Coast on Tuesday to take on AFC Bournemouth, and Slaven Bilic has given an injury update ahead of the game to the official club website, confirming with 99% certainty that Dimitri Payet will make his first start since returning to fitness.
Bilic said: “He came back, he is fit and I am 99 percent sure he will start. Valencia could be back, and Kouyate. Victor is back training on Monday with us. He’s been out since Manchester United and he won’t be in the squad for Tuesday, but we will see how he is progressing and he’ll be back in the near future. Sakho is ahead of schedule, so he could be fit earlier than we thought.”
Bilic had only positive news to give, with all of the injured players - aside from Manuel Lanzini - returning to training now or in the coming days.
Victor Moses is back working with the rest of the team, and although he won’t be playing against the Cherries, he should be back on the field before too long.
Enner Valencia and Cheikhou Kouyate should be fit for the game though, with Diafra Sakho not too far behind in returning to action.
This is all positive news, but the truly exciting revelation from Bilic is that Payet is 99% certain to start against Bournemouth, having made cameos against Liverpool and Wolves since his return to fitness.
His absence has been heavily felt by the Hammers, who have lacked creativity with the Frenchman out, but his return should bring increased faith to the side, and a starting appearance will boost morale all around the East London club.
