Report: VfB Stuttgart interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer

The summer signing has struggled for first-team action at Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur's excellent form this season has been built on the solid basis of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen at centre-back.

However that does not necessarily please Austrian defender Kevin Wimmer.

Wimmer joined Spurs in the summer from KC Koln but has struggled for regular football since the move. The 23-year-old has only played three games this season and has not featured at all in the Premier League.

With that in mind, and his place in the Austrian national team at threat for the European Championships in 2016, Wimmer will be wanting regular first-team football and he is now said to have another offer on the table.

It is being reported today that Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart are interested in bringing him in this summer.

Stuttgarter Zeitung reports that Stuttgart are after a centre-back this January and have Wimmer on a list with Papy Mison Djilobodji of Chelsea.

It would be an odd decision from Spurs. As good as the Belgian pair have been at the back for Spurs this season they need cover considering the busy second half of the season that is upcoming.
