Birmingham City reject bids for Jacques Maghoma

HITC Sport understands that DR Congo winger is wanted

Birmingham City have rejected two bids from an unnamed Middle Eastern club for Jacques Maghoma, HITC Sport understands.

Maghoma only joined Birmingham in the summer of 2015 when he left Sheffield Wednesday, penning a two-year deal at St Andrew's.

Gary Rowett played a major part in persuading the DR Congo international to sign with the club, but now he faces a battle to keep him at the club.

Maghoma has been one of Birmingham's star turns this season with four goals from midfield as well as a couple of assists.

His form has caught the attention of a club in the Middle East, who HITC Sport understands have already made contact with Birmingham.

A number of Premier League and Championship clubs have been monitoring him, but Barwell are reluctant to let him leave on trial again.

Likewise they would prefer Tomkinson, 20, to move on a permanent deal, and now they could end up heading in the same direction with Birmingham confident that both could make the step up to the Championship.

Birmingham are now hoping they can fend off the rival interest and secure the pair in the near future.
