Jamie Redknapp criticises Adam Lallana's displays for Liverpool

The midfielder has struggled since signing from Southampton last summer.

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he wants to see more from Adam Lallana in a Liverpool shirt.

The midfielder has been largely disappointing since joining from Southampton last summer, so far failing to replicate his form for the Saints at Anfield.

That has largely been down to a series of niggling injuries, with them hampering his game time last season and yet again at the beginning of this campaign.

He is fully fit now though and in favour under Jurgen Klopp, and Redknapp says he expects more goals and assists from him to justify his place in the side.

“I want a lot more from Adam Lallana,” he told Sky Sports.

“If I’ve paid £25 million for him, I want more goals and assists. I think he’s so easy on the eye, he does beautiful things with the ball, but his end product isn’t good enough.”

“If you were comparing him to say Ozil, they’re miles apart. He plays in such a lovely role, and if you’re given that opportunity to play as a number 10 or wide for Liverpool, it should be a joy.”

The big problem for Lallana is that he is unlikely to be given extended game time in his favoured number ten position.

That role is very much Philippe Coutinho’s, with the Brazilian having proved his worth on numerous occasions for the side already this season.

His performances in the role make it hard for Lallana to get any game time centrally, with him being consigned to a role on the wings instead.

Lallana then, may need to adapt his game to that of a winger to start having a serious impact in this Liverpool team.
