Indeed, the 24-year-old is 4/1 to stay at Tottenham but 6/4 to join Sunderland and 3/1 to move to West Brom.
It seems Townsend's Spurs career is set to end in the transfer window - unless the wide man plans to sit on the bench for the rest of the season.
Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom are all in need of new wingers but Townsend may be at risk of playing Championship football next term if he joins one of the trio.
West Brom may be his best bet - their chances of relegation are certainly far lower than the Tyne-Wear duo. Tony Pulis would also likely make good use of a fast winger and encourage him to cross as much as possible (it's up to the 24-year-old as to whether he actually does his job).
A move to Newcastle or Sunderland would certainly be a risk in terms of relegation for Townsend. But, if the Tottenham man wants first-team football, it might be time to finally leave White Hart Lane. And maybe a season in the Championship would do him good anyway, such has been his form in the last couple of years.
