Report: Watford and Bournemouth line up move for Malaga's Carlos Kameni

Malaga’s Carlos Kameni has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.

According to a report in the Spanish publication AS, Watford and Bournemouth are lining up a January deal for Malaga’s experienced goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.

The newly promoted duo have fared well in the Premier League thus far, the Hornets currently occupying eighth spot in the table while Bournemouth lie three points clear of the drop zone in 16th.

January may prove a big month with regards to their respective targets come the end of the season, and both teams seem keen to bolster their squads with a number of players lined up.

According to a report by AS, Malaga’s Carlos Kameni has been identified as a target and he could be available for a snip price due to a release clause standing at less than €1 million [£730,000].

“Málaga club sources have confirmed to AS that Quique Sánchez Flores' outfit have expressed an interest in securing the services of the Cameroon keeper. Kameni is apparently keen on a Premier League move and Bournemouth have also been credited with an interest in the 31-year-old,” the report reads.

Kameni has a wealth of experience and is renowned as one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga.

Bournemouth have had their problems in goal this season, with number one Artur Boruc making a number of high profile errors which have cost the Cherries dearly at times.

Watford’s superb scouting network has been a major factor behind their success so far, and they will know all about Kameni’s capabilities due to his performances against the Pozzo’s other club Granada.

The 31-year-old has started all 16 La Liga matches for Malaga this season, conceding just 14 goals and keeping six clean sheets – including a blank against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
