Lineker reacts on Twitter to Everton player’s display, Tim Cahill comments on team performance

Everton went down 4-3 to Stoke City in the Premier League today.

Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his admiration of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has been in good form for Everton so far this season and was on target again today. The Belgium international scored twice for the Toffees in their 4-3 defeat to Stoke City at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Former Everton striker Lineker was following the match, and he was impressed with the 22-year-old’s heroics.

Australian attacker Tim Cahill, who is now on the books of Shanghai Shenhua, was not impressed with his former club’s overall performance against Stoke.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Goodison Park, hosts Everton had 51% of the possession, took 15 shots of which just three were on target, and earned six corners.

Visitors Stoke had 49% of the possession, took eight shots of which five were on target, and won two corners.

Everton will return to Premier League action on January 3 when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.
