Was Berahino's poor season an inevitability after Tottenham transfer saga?

The West Brom forward's head looks like it was turned over the summer.

Ahead of the January transfer window, the Saido Berahino to Tottenham Hotspur debate is re-opening.

According to the Daily Mail, despite failing to land the West Brom forward over the summer, the north London side are looking at making another move for the 22-year-old during the winter window.

While the club are mulling over a decision, fans appear split. In the comments section on HITC Sport, on social media and likely on the terraces, Tottenham supporters are in two minds. Would Berahino be worth it?

One factor that will certainly play on people's minds is the fact the Baggies forward is enduring a poor season this time around - not currently being able to make the West Brom side.

But was that outcome an inevitability after the Tottenham transfer saga that came to a head in August?

Indeed, whether it swings the opinion of Spurs fans one way or another, the fact the 22-year-old wanted to move to White Hart Lane and was denied the opportunity was always going to play on his mind. Perhaps staying at the Hawthorns was negative for Tottenham and West Brom.

The north London side can either view the situation as dodging a bullet - Berahino's attitude could have become a problem in the capital, too. Or they can take responsibility for his mishaps and forgive his form, giving West Brom another chance to sell him, one they may be more likely to heed this time around.
