Report: Tottenham Hotspur make approach to appoint Piero Ausilio as new sporting director

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be looking to Italy again.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in appointing a new sporting director, according to reports in Italy.

InterNews. It report that Italian television channel Sport Italia first claimed during show Calcio&Mercato that Spurs have made a tentative approach for Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio.

It is reported that Tottenham have made enquiries over poaching Ausilio, as a replacement for Franco Baldini, the former Roma sporting director.

Baldini did not work out at Tottenham, with many of his signings sold already, but Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli are proving success stories.

The Times report Tottenham currently have a five man transfer committee in place, which includes head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The report on InterNews. It claims Ausilio is happy at Inter, but believe Tottenham do stand a chance of luring him away, if their approach gets serious.

Ausilio is currently competing with Spurs to sign Jonathan Calleri, according to Sportmediaset, and Victor Osimhen, report Eurosport.

His big buy this summer was convincing Geoffrey Kondogbia to snub Champions League interest and join Inter from Monaco.

It has paid off with Inter currently the surprise Serie A leaders, four points clear with 36 points after 16 games.
