Pochettino reacts to Ayoze Perez's performance v Tottenham amid transfer links

The Tottenham boss has been discussing the Newcastle forward.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was coy when discussing Ayoze Perez on Sunday afternoon, according to the Chronicle.

Indeed, the Argentine refused to either praise or criticise the Spaniard amid links with a move for the Newcastle United forward.

And the Tottenham boss simply refered to there being 'a lot of rumours' in football after seeing the Newcastle man score the winning goal against his side at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino is quoted as saying (while smirking!): "Erm, I dunno. The rumours, there’s a lot of rumours in football but I think that we are focusing on the game."

Naturally, there was irony as Perez scored the winner at Tottenham for the second season in a row. Many feel he would be a perfect January signing for Spurs - as opposed to West Brom's Saido Berahino, who currently can't make the Baggies side and has seen his attitude questioned by some.

Tottenham's need for a new forward was perhaps emphasised against Newcastle, although they did score four goals just three days prior in the Europa League.

To cope with both European and Premier League action, another attacker would certainly help. Is Perez the answer?

Next up for Tottenham is a trip to Pochettino's old side Southampton, while the Magpies host Aston Villa.
