Photos: Andros Townsend scores for Tottenham Under-21's, sends reminder to Pochettino

Andros Townsend helped Tottenham Under-21's earn a 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday.

Tottenham Hotspur's Under-21 side played out a 1-1 draw against Everton at Southport's Merseyrail Community Stadium on Monday evening.

Spurs' first team suffered their first league defeat since the opening day of the Premier League season on Sunday, falling to a shock 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United.

On Monday, the club's youngsters and fringe players looked to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino as they took on Everton Under-21's, with the Argentine needing something of a boost after that defeat.

Everton took the lead late on as Liam Walsh scored from a Toffees counter-attack, but Spurs hit back from the penalty spot as Andros Townsend found the net after a foul on Emmanuel Sonupe.

The game finished 1-1, but once again the focus was on winger Townsend as he turned out for the Spurs Under-21's for the third game in a row.

The England international has become an outcast under Pochettino, and has dropped down to the Under-21's in order to keep fit and make a desperate bid to impress his manager.

His goal and performance may not be enough to put him back in contention in the Premier League, but it was a reminder to Pochettino that he is ready and available if needed after Sunday's defeat to Newcastle.

Addionally, rival clubs will have been watching with intent ahead of next month's transfer window, especially with Townsend needing first-team football ahead of England's Euro 2016 campaign.

Here are a selection of the best images from Townsend's performance, including his penalty which rescued a draw for Spurs...
