The Newcastle boss was understandably pleased after his side's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
And the pair played their part in a 2-1 for Newcastle against a previously in-form Tottenham side.
McClaren is quoted as telling Sky Sports by the BBC: "Pat on the back for the subs. Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic didn't play the last game but were ready to come on and had that impact. They’re winners again."
What a turnaround from McClaren, eh?
The issue for Newcastle, of course (as the manager himself pointed out after the game), is consistency. Newcastle can clearly produce when they want to - but will the players be committed enough against sides in the bottom half of the Premier League table as they were against Liverpool and Tottenham?
Fair play to the Magpies for an incredible contrast: losing 5-1 at Crystal Palace certainly brings a bit of a different feeling to winning late on at White Hart Lane.
Next up for Newcastle is a home clash against Aston Villa, where the St James' Park outfit's consistency will definitely be tested. It's a very winnable game indeed.
