Former player Mark Bright has taken to social networking site twitter in order to praise Crystal Palace following their narrow 1-0 win over Southampton at Selhurst Park.
Southampton were always going to pose a number of dangers for Palace, yet the hosts controlled proceedings and Yohan Cabaye’s first-half strike proved the difference.
With Palace remaining in sixth spot, some could argue it can’t get much better for Alan Pardew’s side yet former player Mark Bright feels there is plenty more still to come from the South Londoners.
The victory takes Palace to within three points of Manchester United in fourth, a stunning achievement from boss Pardew considering where the club were when he took over in early 2015.
With players such as Cabaye, Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha on the books there is a nice blend between guile, power and sheer pace within the club’s ranks.
Could the club challenge for a European place? Palace’s squad is pretty small compared with their nearest rivals, yet they have a first-team strong enough to compete with anybody.
Avoiding injuries to key players will be key for Pardew’s side, and with a bit of luck thrown in along the way there is no reason why they can’t challenge for at least a Europa League spot.
