Manchester United star Phil Jones ranks Arsenal drubbing as favourite game

Phil Jones has revealed that Manchester United’s 8-2 drubbing of Arsenal back in 2011 ranks as the best game he has ever been involved in.

Arsenal fans may want to erase any memory of their 8-2 humiliation at the hands of Manchester United a few years back, but for defender Phil Jones it remains a source of some considerable pride.

The Red Devils put an under-strength Gunners side to the sword in spectacular style back in August 2011, with Wayne Rooney bagging a hat-trick in the infamous win.

Four years on from that result and Jones is one of just five United players still at the club that were involved that day, with the others being Rooney, David De Gea, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young.

However, it remains something of a cherished memory for Jones, who ranked the game as the best he has ever been involved in during an interview with the official Manchester United website.

But while it represents his favourite game, the Red Devils stopper still holds the club’s 2013 Premier League title victory as his best moment as a professional.

And there’s no prizes for guessing whom he ranks as the greatest person he has ever met: David Beckham.

Still, while the quick fire interview makes no mention of it, we can pretty much guess what his worst moment would be.

Two words: Sergio Aguero.
