Mizuho appoint new managing director, head of EMEA

Mizuho International, the London-based securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group has appointed AJ Davidson to the position of Managing Director, Head of EMEA Financial Institutions and Risk Solutions.

Davidson joins Mizuho International from RBS where he was responsible for structuring, originating and executing hybrid capital transactions for financial institutions and corporates across the EMEA and APAC regions. He also held previous senior positions at Citigroup and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, working in DCM Origination across new product development and capital structure financing.

Commenting on Davidson’s appointment, Mark Wheatcroft, Head of Primary Debt Markets said: “The appointment of AJ is a significant step forward in expanding and strengthening our offering for financial institutions across Europe, Middle East and Africa. AJ brings with him essential product and market expertise, as well as strong client relationships that will enable Mizuho International to build a sustainable FIG platform. Together with the newly formed Structured Solutions team, credit trading and sales, derivatives and research, AJ’s appointment supports a broader FIG strategic initiative that we can integrate globally. We look forward to the impetus he will bring to building out the platform.”

Davidson will be responsible for establishing and growing Mizuho’s EMEA FIG DCM platform.
