Liam Cooper's response when asked if Leeds are in a relegation battle

The Leeds centre-back has been dismissive - but should he be more wary?

Liam Cooper doesn't believe Leeds United are in a relegation battle, according to BBC Radio Leeds.

Indeed, the 24-year-old was dismissive when asked about Leeds' plight, with United currently sitting 17th in the Championship, only four points clear of the relegation zone.

Leeds' latest defeat was a 1-0 loss at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, where Charlie Austin scored a second-half winner to guide Neil Warnock to victory against his former club.

But Cooper says he is only looking up and doesn't feel the Yorkshire side need to worry about a battle against the drop.

Cooper told BBC Radio Leeds: "Nah, I don't look at that. I just look up at where this club should be."

It's certainly a positive approach from Cooper but perhaps the Leeds defender should be more wary of the threat of relegation.

Looking at United's current results, it's a very similar situation to last season when the odd bit of complacency could see Leeds tumble towards the foot of the table.

Naturally, the Whites could just as easily move up the Championship standings - but it's hard to see where the results will come from if Steve Evans' side continue down their current path.
