Poor Gary has been mocked so often, he's now mocking himself... sort of!

If you've been living under a rock, not born before 1990 or simply not following Gary Lineker on Twitter, you may be unaware of this tale.

So, when England were playing the Republic of Ireland at the 1990 World Cup, former Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City hero, Gary Lineker, managed to end up doing a poo on the pitch.

And ever since he finally admitted to doing it, the now Match of the Day presenter has been a target for daily trolling by people telling him that he did a number two on the field of play.

Now, we're not entirely sure how people find the time in the day to constantly tweet him about this, but we admire their dedication.

And it seems like Lineker has finally got past it annoying him and is ready for a bit of self-deprecating humour (our favourite kind).

With Lineker working on BT Sport and covering the Zenit St Petersburg v Valencia game, the Russian side opened the scoring thanks to a pretty hilariously named player:

Outstanding, as you can imagine, there are some rather brilliant replies, but we'll let you check them out for yourselves – they're kinda NSFW.
