David Preece picks his Crystal Palace v Sunderland Man-of-the-Match

Allardyce deflated

Sunderland defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 away from home in the Premier League on Monday night.

David Preece has stated on social networking site Twitter that Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce was the ‘Man of the Match’ on Monday night.

Sunderland returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 success over Crystal Palace away from home in London.

Jermain Defoe’s goal in the 80th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides at Selhurst Park.

Former Sunderland prospect Preece, now 39 years of age, believes that the ‘Man of the Match’ award should go to Black Cats’ boss Allardyce.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Selhurst Park, Sunderland had 33% of the possession, took 12 shots of which just four were on target, and earned two corners.

The Black Cats are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with nine points from 13 matches, just a point behind 17th-place Newcastle United.

Allardyce’s side will take on Stoke City at the Stadium of Light in the league on Saturday afternoon.
