Carlos Carvalhal on the likelihood of Sheffield Wednesday sales in January

Sheffield Wednesday's Lucas Joao has been linked with Everton in recent times, while a host of Premier League clubs are reportedly chasing Tom Lees.

Carlos Carvalhal has told the Sheffield Star that Sheffield Wednesday have no interest in selling players in the January transfer window.

The likes of Lucas Joao and Tom Lees have both been linked with Premier League clubs in recent times, as reported by HITC

However, Carvalhal is determined to keep his squad together – and insists that he is under no pressure to cash in on his better players.

“It is natural other teams will look at our players,” he said. “We don’t have any intention to sell any players in January. It could happen at the end of the season but even if we sell someone we will be ready to recover this position with a player of some value. But we are trying to improve the team and make it more strong.”

Joao and Lees have become wanted due to their excellent form for Wednesday throughout the season so far.

The Owls have been magnificent of late, and they are looking like one of the most dangerous sides in the Championship.

Wednesday have just lost once in their last 13 matches in all competitions, and they have elevated themselves into promotion contention.

Carvalhal’s side are currently four points behind the play-off spaces, and if they can keep their current squad together they will feel confident of breaching that gap by May.
