Collymore questions Benteke’s future at Liverpool under Klopp

The former forward suggests that the Belgian's style may not fit well with the German coach.

Writing on his Twitter account, Stan Collymore has questioned Christian Benteke’s future at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

Former manager Brendan Rodgers signed the forward in a big money move from Aston Villa in the summer.

He has struggled to make much of an impact at Anfield so far, though, with a series of niggling injuries having stopped him building any kind of form.

Many had questioned whether he would fit in at the club, with his style contrasting so much with the style of football the Reds favour.

That is still an issue under Jurgen Klopp and Collymore has questioned the Belgian’s long-term future at the club as a result.

Given how Jurgen Klopp likes to play, it is unlikely that Benteke will be a regular starter under him in the future.

The first choice striker at the club is evidently Daniel Sturridge, with him one of a few players they are pinning their hopes on.

He fits into that style much more comfortably than the Belgian, who is arguably more effective with a team that puts the ball into the box, as Aston Villa did to great effect when he was on their books.

That is unlikely to be a style they will adopt at Anfield, though, meaning his future at the club is certainly far from certain going forward.
