Plymouth win loan race for highly-rated Crystal Palace defender Luke Croll

HITC Sport understands that the League Two promotion hopefuls have reached an agreement with Palace.

League Two leaders Plymouth Argyle have won the battle to land Crystal Palace defender Luke Croll, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the deal.

HITC Sport revealed earlier this month that Palace boss Alan Pardew was looking for the left-sided starlet to get some first-team experience under his belt.

He has broken into Palace’s first-team squad this season and was on the bench for the game at Watford – which the Eagles won 1-0.

But with Scott Dann and Damien Delaney in imperious form, Pardew is happy for his young prospect to move on and test himself at a lower level before returning to Selhurst Park ready to challenge for a more prominent senior role.

A host of clubs from the Championship, League One and Two made approaches, but now Plymouth have pushed ahead to agree a deal.

HITC Sport understands that Croll should sign a deal to take him to Home Park before the weekend – putting him in contention for a possible debut against Exeter.
