Carlos Carvalhal on Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper's improvement

Gary Hooper has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Norwich City.

Carlos Carvalhal says that Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper is getting better by the day.

Hooper has signed for Wednesday on loan from Norwich City until January, and he has made a slow start at Hillsborough.

The former Celtic man has had to be patient, but he failed to impress on his first start during Wednesday’s recent 3-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

However, Carvalhal has been encouraged by Hooper’s progression over the international break, and the Portuguese boss has hinted that he will have a part to play.

Hooper was signed by Wednesday to be the prolific scorer that they have been missing for a number of seasons.

Although the Owls have been excellent going forward this term, none of their strikers have scored particularly frequently.

Hooper will hope that he can fill that void in their squad, and his next chance to impress could come at the weekend, when Wednesday take on Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.
