Brian McBride’s response when asked if David Moyes should manage Celtic

Brian McBride, who worked with David Moyes at Preston North End and Everton, suggests that the Scot should not take charge of Celtic.

Former Fulham striker Brian McBride has told ESPN FC that David Moyes should not take charge of Celtic.

Ronny Deila is the manager of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic at the moment, but he is under pressure due to the Bhoys’ disappointing results in Europe under him.

Former Everton and Manchester United boss Moyes is without a managerial job at the moment, having been sacked by Spanish club Real Sociedad earlier this month.

McBride, who worked with Moyes first at Preston North End and then at Everton during loan spells from Columbus Crew, believes that the Scot is too good for the Bhoys.

“For sentimental sake, it would be pretty, but I agree with Shaka (Hislop) - he has way too much to offer,” the former USA international told ESPN FC.

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United goalkeeper Hislop has told ESPN FC: “I think David Moyes would be wasted at Celtic, in all honesty.

“I mean, Celtic could win the Scottish Premiership with me as manager, in all honesty. I think David Moyes has a lot to offer to a very good club in Europe.”

Moyes is a very good manager who did a great job at Everton from 2002 to 2013.

Despite his failures at United and Sociedad, the Scotsman remains someone who should be given another chance in the Premier League.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 35 points from 14 matches.

The Hoops are six points clear of second-place Hearts, who are a point ahead of Aberdeen.
