Matt Le Tissier accuses Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez of going missing in some matches

Riyad Mahrez has scored eight goals for Leicester City this season.

Matt Le Tissier has accused Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez of having a tendency to go missing, on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday broadcast on November 7.

Although Mahrez has been in hugely impressive form since the start of the campaign, Le Tissier feels that he can still improve.

The Southampton legend claims Mahrez has the ability to play at a high level, but he would like to see the Algerian become more consistent.

“He’s certainly a player who can light up a football match, but he does have spells where he goes missing a little bit,” Le Tissier said.

“He hasn’t started every game this season, so Claudio Ranieri has obviously felt there are games where it possibly didn’t suit his play.

“Maybe he’s felt that he could have more of an impact on the game as a sub, but he’s got the ability to play at a club with a bigger stature than Leicester City.”

Mahrez has been one of Leicester’s most impressive performers so far this season, with his form one of the reasons why they have pieced together such a strong start.

The Foxes are currently perched in third place in the Premier League table, having been one of the top-flight's biggest surprise packages.

Leicester have also looked to be one of the Premier League’s most dangerous sides, and their attacking quality has shone through on numerous occasions.

Jamie Vardy’s scoring sequence has taken most of the headlines, but Mahrez has chipped in with eight strikes himself – and he is having a wonderful season at the King Power Stadium.
