Reports: Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle United keen on giant Croatian stopper Lovre Kalinic

The Hajduk Split man is being linked with a Premier League move.

It is being reported that three Premier League teams are interested in Croatian goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.

The three teams in question are Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United - with all three teams having different amounts of need for a new stopper.

Goal Croatia reported the Chelsea interest last month. Chelsea currently have Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic in their ranks so why they would need Kalinic beggars belief.

TEAMtalk are reporting the links to both Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Villa have not been enamored with the inconsistent performances of Brad Guzan recently and have very little in reserve. Meanwhile Newcastle United must have the world's greatest collection of injury prone stoppers at St James Park.

Kalinic is a 25-year-old stopper who plays for Hajduk Split in his Croatian homeland. At 6 ft 7 in he is certainly an imposing figure who belies his age in appearance and performance.

He made his debut for the Croatia national team last year and is now a regular in the national team set-up.

Chelsea, Villa or Newcastle would certainly be lucky to get their hands on him.
