Tottenham to offer Andros Townsend to Premier League rivals as they investigate makeweight option

HITC Sport understands that the England winger could be offered to Crystal Palace and West Brom as Spurs maintain interest in Bolasie and Berahino.

Andros Townsend will be offered to Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion ahead of January's transfer window to see if he can be used as part of another deal, HITC Sport understands.

The England international has been told that he can move on in January, but Spurs are looking at using him as a makeweight as they have still not given up on either Yannick Bolasie or Saido Berahino.

They made moves for both players in the summer but deals were not pushed through, indeed Bolasie has since agreed new terms and Berahino has returned to the West Brom first-team after declaring his anger at not being allowed to move.

Sources close to Spurs have told HITC Sport that whilst they do not think either deal is likely in January, their interest remains and they will first see if either club would want Townsend, which may help them secure their main targets in the summer.

Townsend has found his chances limited under Mauricio Pochettino this season, being yet to start a Premier League game and now dropped from the first-team ranks, and he knows his England chances will be hindered should he remain at White Hart Lane.
