Three former players Remi Garde should reunite with at Aston Villa

The Frenchman has worked with some very talented players in his career.

Aston Villa have finally appointed Remi Garde as their new manager after a lengthy process trying to bring him in after Tim Sherwood was sacked earlier a little over a week ago.

The Frenchman has arrived to bring together a seemingly divided changing room full of recent signings that arrived players from Ligue 1.

There is however little doubt that Villa are continuing to struggle with the players they currently have.

So what if Remi Garde was to bring in some of his former players?

Here are three players that Garde worked with either as technical director or head coach during his time at Olympique Lyonnais that he might attempt to bring in this winter.

Clement Grenier

Once linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool and dubbed the 'next Samir Nasri' his career has been curtailed slightly by injury problems.

He played just six times last season and is yet to feature for Lyon this term because of torn tendon. However he is scheduled to be back in action shortly after returning to training and in January Villa might hope to snap up a cheap bargain.

Bafetimbi Gomis

The Swansea City striker is still believed to have a £7 million release clause in his deal at the Liberty Stadium.

He finished top scorer in Garde's first season in charge at Lyon. He has struggled for form at Swansea after an excellent start to the season and a move to Villa Park might prove too tempting to resist for the French striker.

Ishak Belfodil

The Algerian attacker was a youngster coming through the ranks at Lyon when Garde was at the club. He left Parma on a free transfer this summer after the Italian club went bust.

He is now finding life easy in Qatar with Baniyas. Would a move to the Premier League appeal to this dangerous forward?
