Peter Beardsley’s side ran out 2-0 winners against their Villa counterparts, thanks to two late goals from Callum Roberts.

Defender Kevin Mbabu, who has already made his Premier League debut for the Newcastle first team this season, was also happy to have featured for the U21 side.

Newcastle are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Steve McClaren’s side are third from bottom in the standings with seven points from 11 matches, just a point behind 17th-place Bournemouth.
