Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa.

According to a report in the Italian publication Tuttomercato, Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Angel Correa.

The 20-year-old Argentine star has drawn parallels with both Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, yet his playing style is more familiar with the latter due to his pace, strength and low centre of gravity.

Correa currently plies his trade with Atletico Madrid, joining the La Liga giants in 2014 on a five-year contract after impressing during South America’s Copa Libertadores with San Lorenzo.

However, heavy competition for places at the Vicente Calderon has restricted his first-team opportunities and this season he has featured just eight times in La Liga, coming off the bench six times.

As per the report by TMW, Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in his services, with the latter said to be readying a €12 million [£8.5m] offer, presumably in January.

Huge potential:

Correa, considering his age and current status in Europe, has huge potential and is widely thought of in Argentina as one of the country’s best young prospects.

He scored six goals in 11 appearances for the Argentina U20 side and now has three full international caps to his name, scoring one goal.

Similar to Aguero and Tevez, his excellent work-rate, movement and evident ball ability would certainly help his cause playing for a top Premier League club.

While Correa would be a welcome addition at City, given their South American contingent at the Etihad, he may find more opportunities at Liverpool, where he could flourish under Jurgen Klopp.

The newly-appointed German coach will be keen to sign the next best talent for the Reds and develop them accordingly, with Correa certainly falling in the bracket of potential superstar.
