Mark Warburton confirms Rangers will not be signing Gai Assulin

The Israeli has not impressed enough on his trial period.

Rangers recently made news for bringing in a former Barcelona youth prospect to train with the club. Glasgow Rangers snapped up Gai Assulin for training a week ago.

The Israeli winger was with Barcelona for seven years as a youngster. The 24-year-old played just one game for Barcelona during his time at the club but left when it became clear he could not command a place in the Barca first-team.

He went on to sign for Manchester City and play for Brighton on loan before heading back to Spain. Stints with Racing Santander, Granada, Hercules and Mallorca followed but form and fitness have deserted the mercurial playmaker - who has one cap for the Israel national team.

He has been a free agent since leaving Mallorca in the summer and Rangers have had him on trial ahead of a potential move to Ibrox.

But speaking in a press conference earlier today the Rangers boss Mark Warburton made it clear that he would not be signing the player.

He told the official Rangers website:

"No. We won't be taking that any further."

Assulin it seems did not do enough to win over the Rangers boss during his time with the club and will now have to look elsewhere for new employment.
