Arsenal injury flop Abou Diaby's return to football delayed with another problem

The Frenchman has picked up a minor injury.

This summer saw Arsenal finally allow Abou Diaby move on after several years of injury hell at the club.

The French international was once tipped for greatness, and to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira as a dominant force in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield.

Unfortunately, injuries mean no such progress has ever been made.

Ever since a horror challenge from Sunderland defender Dan Smith in 2006 he has struggled over and over again with different injury problems. He has played just two games in the last two seasons at the club and Arsenal fans have forever got excited about his return before watching him fail to recover.

The team who decided to take a risk on the player was French side Marseille.

They snapped him up and are obviously hoping he can recover and live up to his former billing. This weekend Diaby was all set to make his return to football against French side Lorient on Sunday evening.

However it has now been reported by L'Equipe that Diaby has suffered a minor muscular injury. Minor muscular injury meanwhile is a statement Arsenal fans have heard before, with Diaby then going on to miss a large swathe of action.

His last game in football came in September 2014 in a League Cup tie against Southampton and his 13 month wait for football goes on.
