HITC Sport understands that the Baggies would prefer to sell in January, but may be talked into a loan agreement.

A number of Championship clubs are hoping to persuade West Bromwich Albion to let Victor Anichebe leave the club before January, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential move.

However, the decision not to sign Ricardo Vaz Te could mean that they wait until January before allowing the Nigeria international to depart.

The former Everton striker has featured just once for The Baggies this season and boss Tony Pulis has made it known to club chiefs that he is not in his long-term plans.

Now HITC Sport understands that up to half-a-dozen Championship clubs have been in touch with West Brom, confirming their interest in landing Anichebe.

West Brom would ideally like to sell him in January and use his wages elsewhere, but they also know a more likely option is to loan him out.

The 27-year-old certainly needs to find game time somewhere if he is to prevent his career from stagnating, and a short-term spell elsewhere may be the best option for all concerned.
