Jack Grealish to remain with Aston Villa over international break, but England call-up expected soon

The former Republic of Ireland youth international has opted to represent England at senior level.

Jack Grealish will remain with Aston Villa during the coming international break in a bid to work on his fitness, according to the Telegraph.

The report claims Roy Hodgson had invited the 20-year old to train with the senior team to get a feel for the surroundings, despite not intending to call him up just yet.

But after discussions with Villa boss Tim Sherwood, it has been agreed that the talented midfielder will spend the next couple of weeks with his club as he looks to fully recover from an injury hit start to the season.

Grealish missed most of pre-season with a hamstring injury and has made just four Premier League appearances so far this campaign.

Hodgson is reportedly delighted with the youngster’s decision to opt for England over the Republic of Ireland and intends to fully introduce him to the senior team in next month’s friendlies against France and Spain.
