Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Ben Arfa wondergoal, slam his replacements

The former Newcastle United winger is causing a stir on Tyneside once more - without even being there.

Hatem Ben Arfa is a name Newcastle fans had hoped they would stop hearing. Whether they were fed up of the Frenchman or sick of thinking about a creative forward the club had let go for free (there are plenty pitched in both camps), supporters would have hoped to see the 28-year-old finally disappear off the Newcastle radar.

Naturally, Ben Arfa has now netted six goals in his last eight games in Ligue 1 - playing for Nice - including a trademark effort where he beat several hapless defenders before slotting home.

Twitter has responded, with plenty of the Magpies faithful expressing their disdain that Ben Arfa was ever allowed to leave St James' Park. And the winger's antics also prompted plenty of anti Remy Cabella and Florian Thauvin tweets.

The biggest thing to consider is this: the 28-year-old is playing in a league where Thauvin and Cabella both looked unstoppable. Maybe that's why all three couldn't/arguably can't hack it in the Premier League. Ligue 1 isn't exactly the standard bearer of modern football...

Either way, here's what Newcastle fans said about Ben Arfa's wondergoal and performance generally on Twitter...
