Report: Roy Hodgson to ignore Mauricio Pochettino warnings and watch Dele Alli in action again

The England boss is seriously considering a call-up for the midfield talent.

Earlier today Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino made a plea to England boss Roy Hodgson to not yet consider his current star talent Dele Alli for the England senior team.

The Argentine coach had this to say regarding the 19-year-old midfielder, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“Again, like last season (with Harry Kane), it's not my decision. It's Roy Hodgson's decision if he wants to call up Dele Alli.

"You can see he's a player that is very mature and shows great quality but always in football it's step by step and we need to be careful.

"He will mature. He has personality and good character. But it is too much of a rush to talk about bigger steps for him."

It was something of an impassioned plea from a gaffer who clearly thinks that would be a leap too soon for the player.

However a report today is claiming that the England boss will still be coming to watch Alli in action tomorrow as Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester City.

The Mirror claim that Alli is firmly in Hodgson’s sights as he comes to watch several of his England players in action, such as Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.

Alli has been in sensational form this season. He was signed by Spurs in January but only arrived at the club properly this summer. He spent the second part of last season helping his former team MK Dons to League One promotion before heading off on his Spurs adventure.

In recent weeks he has been the standout player for Spurs, belying his teenage years, and that has seen him linked with a potential spot in the European Championships squad for next summer.
