Mesut Ozil reacts on Twitter to injury blow for Arsenal teammate Danny Welbeck

Mesut Ozil has wished Danny Welbeck a quick recovery after Arsenal confirmed the worst possible injury news.

Mesut Ozil has wished Danny Welbeck well after the news about his injury.

Arsenal announced via their official website on Thursday that Welbeck has undergone surgery on his knee, after the problem which has kept him out of action early this season reacted badly to an increased workload in training.

Ozil was sidelined himself last season with a knee problem, and also missed the game at the weekend against Newcastle due to a more low-key concern.

He is currently with the German national team preparing for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland.

He took to Twitter to react to the news Welbeck will be out for 'a number of months'.

It is likely Ozil will not get the chance to play alongside Welbeck again until at least December, with Arsenal's decision not to sign a striker during the summer transfer window looking even more controversial.

The German has even been deployed by his national team coach Jogi Low as a false nine in the recent past, but Arsenal fans will hope their own situation will not come to that point.
