The former West Brom boss does not believe his side can sign Michu.
Swansea City have lost yet another interested party in their hopes of removing Michu from their squad.
The Spaniard, who spent last season on loan at Italian giants Napoli, had been linked with a move back to Spain. Real Betis were one team mentioned as having an interest in the player, with former West Brom boss Pepe Mel reportedly keen to sign him.
However, speaking to Marca this week, Mel has made it clear he does not envisage his side signing the 29-year-old any time soon:
"Michu? He's still at Swansea and I don't think there's any way around that one."
Michu was once a revelation at Swansea. A bargain buy in 2012 from Rayo Vallecano he was a superb hit at the Liberty Stadium in the 2012-13 campaign. He scored 22 goals in 43 appearances in his debut season with the club, and earned a cap for the Spanish national team, but his second season was less productive.
He suffered with injury problems throughout the campaign and scored just six goals in 24 games.
He was loaned out to Napoli last season but failed to score in five appearances and did not play after an ankle operation in October.
Garry Monk has already made it clear that Michu does not feature in his plans and Swansea will continue to try and find a buyer for their crocked former hero.
