Report: Rangers targeting Chelsea prospect John Swift

Rangers are looking to bring in the Chelsea youngster before the transfer window closes.

Mark Warburton is still in the market for another loan player, and a report in the Scotsman claims that he is looking at bringing John Swift to Ibrox.

Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball have already been signed on season-long loans from Tottenham Hotspur, and the Chelsea prospect could be the next in line - with a deal expected to be completed this week.

The England Under-20 international could arrive in time to face Hibs on Sunday.

Who is John Swift?

Swift, 20, is a midfielder who has played his entire career with the Blues. The Portsmouth-born youngster is a midfielder, able to play in the centre or on the right-wing, and he has already made an appearance for the Chelsea first-team.

He spent last term on loan with League One side Swindon Town, helping them reach the play-offs with two goals and three assists in 19 games.

So far this campaign he has been turing out for the Blues’ Under-21 side, but another loan spell with consistent competitive football would be the best step for his development.
