Leeds United latest: Early team news; former target happy he didn't move

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United travel to Reading this afternoon for their second Championship match of the new season.

Uwe Rosler’s side drew 1-1 with Burnley last weekend before losing on penalties to Doncaster Rovers in the League Cup on Thursday evening.

Now Leeds have the chance to get their first win on the board but it will not be easy against the Royals, especially without the suspended Lewis Cook who was sent off against Doncaster.

As reported by the BBC, Cook is suspended for today’s match while Rosler is expected to make a number of changes to the side that played 120 minutes of football (and a penalty shoot-out) just three days ago.

As for Reading, they are without Gareth McCleary while Dominic Samuel and Pavel Pogrebnyak are unlikely to feature.

In other news, reported former Leeds target Josip Ilicic has been speaking in an interview published by Italian website TMW, in which he revealed he is happy he did not move on this summer.

Nicola Salerno previously told CalcioNews that Ilicic was out of Leeds reach despite the ongoing rumours, and now the player himself has expressed his relief at not leaving Fiorentina.

“A few months ago I was tired,” he said in comments published by TMW, “but now I’m fine. I’m happy to be here and I hope to do great things.”
