The Spurs striker is reportedly close to agreeing a switch to Villareal
Tottenham striking flop Roberto Soldado has been pictured in Gatwick Airport ahead of a reported return to La Liga with Villareal, as per the Daily Mail.
The 30-year old has endured a miserable spell at White Hart Lane and managed just one Premier League goal last season, but looks set for a return to La Liga in a deal worth around £12 million.
The Spaniard failed to adjust to the demands of the Premier League and always lacked the physical attributes to play the lone striker role in English football.
He looks sure to be the fourth of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ – signed with the Gareth Bale windfall – to leave this summer, following the sales of Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoue and Paulinho.
His imminent departure alongside the freezing out of Emmanuel Adebayor would also suggest that Spurs have further attacking reinforcements lined up besides Clinton N’Jie.
Saido Berahino has been the strongest-linked, by the likes of the Daily Mail, and replacing Adebayor and Soldado with N’Jie and Berahino would certainly represent an exciting upgrade for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
