After securing a dramatic promotion, Preston must now try and consolidate in the Championship, but do our writers think they can stay afloat?
Memories of a sensational play-off campaign will still be fresh in the mind as Preston take to the field in the Championship, but they will have little time for a honeymoon period.
Simon Grayson has done a fantastic job at Deepdale, but this coming campaign will be one of the biggest tests of his career as he looks to keep Preston in the second tier.
Freddie Shires: Preston's strike force won’t have the same luck in front of goal a division higher.
Damien Lucas: Didn't do enough to strengthen in the summer and paid the ultimate price.
Mathew Nash: Should be an admirable fight for Preston back in the big time. However, they just look to be short in their ranks.
Che Thomas: Simon Grayson is great at taking sides up to the Championship, and not so great at getting them to kick on from there. The Lilywhites should be safe, with Jermaine Beckford’s signing essential, but not sure they have more than some of the other clubs in the division.
Stephen Pickering: The Championship new-boys haven’t strengthened adequately this summer and could be in trouble. Simon Grayson knows the division, which could help, but it might not be enough. Key player: Joe Garner.
Tim Poole: Simon Grayson knows the Championship well enough to mastermind safety.
Billy Hawkins: Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford will prove vital if Preston are to stay up, with their goalscoring key.
Our writers were asked to predict the outcome of next season's Championship campaign. We accumulated their rankings (24 points for first place, 1 for 24th, etc), and created a predicted 2015-16 league table.
And here it is:
