Report: Leicester City agree deal to sign Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler

Leicester City are reportedly close to signing Watford-linked Gokhan Inler.

According to the latest reports from Sky Sports Italia, Leicester City and Napoli have agreed upon a fee in the region of £3 million for midfielder Gokhan Inler.

The Swiss international star featured sparingly for Napoli last season, prompting plenty of speculation over his future and reports of a potential switch to Watford, as per the Watford Observer.

However, a move to the Hornets ultimately never materialised and fresh reports in Italy claim Leicester have taken advantage of his situation, reaching an agreement with the Serie A outfit.

"Leicester have reached an agreement with Napoli to acquire him for around £3 million. Ranieri's club has yet to reach an agreement with the player, but they will work on it in the next few hours," the report reads.

Who is Gokhan Inler?

The 31-year-old is predominantly a central midfielder, with his key attributes being his ability to intercept the ball and his excellent passing range from deep.

He has 83 caps for Switzerland and he boasts plenty of top-level experience having featured in the Champions League during Napoli’s brief European stint over the past two years.

A must buy:

The Foxes are in dire need of replacing Esteban Cambiasso, the club’s standout player from last season who picked up the Player of the Year award at the King Power stadium.

The Argentine has left a big void to fill in the East Midlands, though in Inler, boss Claudio Ranieri could be about to strike an unbelievable deal considering the player’s ability and evident leadership skills.
