Chelsea legend Didier Drogba given a manic welcome by new fans in Montreal

Not a bad reception for big Didier!

It's taken him long enough, but finally Didier Drogba has crossed the pond to join MLS side Montreal Impact after aborting a move to Chicago Fire.

And the Chelsea legend - who brought the curtain down on a second spell at Stamford Bridge with Premier League title success in 2014/15 - has now touched down in Canada and was met with almost Darius Vassell scenes of pandemonium as thousands of fans turned up to the Montreal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport to great the Ivorian frontman.

With plenty of screaming supporters greeting their biggest signing, Drogba was certainly impressed by the welcome and tweeted a video of the scenes:

So was Drogba's welcome better than another Premier League legend's arrival in MLS? Well, Steven Gerrard's was on the other end of the spectrum, with just a handful of fans turning up to greet the Liverpool legend!

Drogba will be hoping for another raucous reception when he gets around to making his debut for Montreal Impact as they look to continue their push for a play-off place in MLS's Eastern Conference.
