After successfully passing the formality of his medical on Thursday morning, defender Santiago Vergini was officially presented by La Liga side Getafe, at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The 26-year-old has joined on loan for the 2015-16 season from Sunderland, whilst Getafe have also reserved an option to make the move permanent, before June 30th 2016.

At his presentation press conference, via the official club websote, Vergini offered his first comments as a Getafe player, highlighting that he was "content" with the move.

Virgini insisted that he had absolutely no doubts about making the switch from England to Spain, explaining: "I was completely convinced about coming to Getafe, La Liga and to this city," whilst indicating that the strength of interest from Getafe sporting director Toni Muñoz, was also a key factor.

Last season Virgini made 31 Premier League appearances with Sunderland, along with 4 in the FA Cup and 2 in the League Cup. As such, the Argentine centre-back highlighted: "I had continuity at Sunderland and I hope to have that here at Getafe too."

Virgini will now get straight to work, as recently appointed manager Fran Escriba puts his side through their paces in pre-season, ready for the start of the 2015-16 campaign in La Liga, which commences in August.
